Beloved babies..I took forever finalizing this fic when I wrote it because I just kept rereading it over and over lol.

Barry was trapped.

He had been banging on the glass before him for ages, screeching for someone to get him out of the dome. Around him, he could only view his reflection, taunting him as he frantically stumbled about, trying to escape. He fell back onto his bottom with a splash. Stunned, he looked below him and realized that he was being surrounded by water.

He would drown in here.
No one was coming.

He scrambled to his feet and let out a wail, pounding on the glass once more before there was a single crack. His reflections distorted and he was faced with the image of his mother staring back at him; disgusted, disappointed, full of detest. He flinched, stepping back nervously before losing his footing, feeling as the water pulled him below the surface, flooding his lungs and his head.

Barry awoke with a shaky gasp, meeting the beady eyes of the plump Vaporeon sitting on his chest. He blinked a couple of times as he caught his breath before giving the creature a side eye. It stared back at him nonchalantly before whipping its large slimy tail across his stomach.

“Were you licking me?” Barry hissed, bringing his arm to wipe off his cheek.

“Well, yeah. I was trying to wake you up before you finished.” The Vaporeon purred as it stood up to trot down the bed, giving Barry’s chest a relief. “You should probably get Rea up.”

“Huh?“ Still in a sleepy daze, Barry looked over at his companion who was in a deep blissful sleep. “For what?”

“You soaked them.”

Barry shot the Vaporeon a glare before going to sit up. It was only a few moments before he realized what the Vaporeon meant. The white tee he’d fallen asleep in was sticking to his back as the puddle under his legs shifted as he sat up all the way up.

“Ah.” Barry winced, growing red at the sight. “Fuck.”

This couldn’t be happening.

“I tried to wake you up.” The Vaporeon was at the bottom of the bed now, sitting like a loaf. “You started mumbling, but you wouldn't open your eyes.”

“You should’ve just bitten me, Fillis.” Barry whimpered, frantically assessing the damage. It was bad. It most definitely got into the mattress considering how wet the comforter covering him was. He went to pull it off of him but Rea seemed to be wrapped into it. Wanting to strangle himself, he gently leaned over to his partner and shook them by the shoulder.

“Hey, Rea…wake up.”

“Mppmph.” His curly haired companion replied dreamily before turning over. They weren’t exactly a heavy sleeper, but when they were tired, they’d be out like a rock. Unfortunately tonight was one of those nights where they were cemented into bed.

Barry grimaced, shaking them again. This was already embarrassing to begin with. Now he had no other choice than to wake up his partner to explain how he peed their bed so much it was drenching both of their clothes.

“Rea?” His voice wavered a bit as he patted his companion’s face. A familiar tightness bubbled into his chest, one he wasn't very fond of. He rolled his eyes at himself, growing frustrated. Not now.

It took a couple of seconds, but Rea opened their brown eyes slightly, giving Barry a soft smile. “Beeeeb.” They chirped, lazily raising their palm to pat his face back. “Good morning.”

“It’s…It’s not morning.” Barry stuttered, feeling his face grow hotter. “Can you...uh, get up?”

“Huh? Did something happen?” Rea asked mid yawn before freezing in place under the blankets. Barry flinched at their expression; things must’ve clicked. They patted the area around them and their own clothing before looking at Barry with horrified expression.

“Did I-“ They seemed too stunned and embarrassed to mutter anything else.

“No, not you. Not you, it was me.” Barry looked away, feeling his eyes fill with tears. “It just happened. I’m sorry.”

“Oh.” Rea paused for a moment as their face softened. “Oh, that’s okay. It’s alright. We can get this cleaned up.” They stammered, shoving the cover off them and climbing out of the bed.

Barry glanced at Rea and noticed how only half of their body was damp. They were wearing a t-shirt and shorts like Barry, but you could tell something had wet them. Rea seemed a bit startled, though ultimately unbothered by the predicament. He blinked away his tears before climbing off the bed, feeling as the excess pee trickled down his inner thighs. Cringing, he tried to wipe it off with his boxers but failed.

“Hey, don’t worry about the bed; I'll get it cleaned up.” Rea had the comforter in their arms, heading to drag the sheets off next. Fillis was at their feet, purring and making an effort to paw the sheets off too. “You can get washed up.”

“Are you sure?” Barry stared at her weakly, suppressing a sob.

They nodded quietly, eyes shaded with sympathy.

“Okay.” He huffed before waddling to the bathroom.

The bathroom steamy from his shower kept the mirror fogged, which was comforting as Barry sat on the toilet seat drying his hair. He was still a bit choked up, wracked with hiccups every now and then, but got most of the crying out of his system while he showered. He was exhausted. There was a light knock on the door, catching Barry’s attention. “Barry?” Rea called. “Yeah?” “I have some clothes for you, is it okay if I come in?” “Yes.” He paused. “Please.” His companion slipped into the bathroom, shutting the door before handing him the clothing items: an oversized shirt that might’ve been Rowan’s, a pair of briefs from Allen and some Eevee socks. He hadn’t brought along a change of clothes of his own, so this would have to work. He slipped into the clothing before posing goofily for Rea. Everything was hanging off of him except for the socks, which were too small. “How do I look? Am I sexy?” He flapped his arms in the shirt while trying to hold up the briefs. Rea snorted. “I thought everything would fit you a bit better than that…” “Eh, it’ll work. I'd prefer a pair of your underwear though.” He slipped out of the garments and handed them back to his friend. “I don’t want Allen asking me why I’m wearing his clothes. He’ll be on my ass for weeks if he finds out why.” Rea blinked. “Allen already said it’s fine if you need to borrow anything. I got all the clothes from him.” Immediately, all the blood rushed to Barry’s face. “You told him?” Rea quickly shook their head. “He woke up when he heard me putting stuff in the washer and went to my room to see what was going on. I'm pretty sure he heard you in here when he walked by.” Barry sat down on the side of the tub, distraught. “I want to kill myself.” “Barry, it’s fine. Accidents happen.” “For like five year olds, sure, but I’m turning twenty soon. Twenty year olds don't have accidents!” He let his head sink into his hands, his damp blonde hair drooping toward the floor. “I...I thought I finally outgrew these...” Rea sat down next to him, giving his back a rub. “Hey, one accident tonight doesn’t mean its back to stay. It was just one night.” They gave him a soft reassuring smile. Barry uncovered his face momentarily to look at Rea before looking down at his feet. Since the two of them met and became close enough to share a bed, Barry had never trusted himself enough to “spend the night” with Rea, fearing that his issue would resurface while he slept. The few times in the past he’d slept over, he managed to catch himself before fully wetting whatever he’d dozed off on, especially with the help of Fillis nibbling on his fingers or prancing on his side to get up and to the bathroom. The chunky blue creature had kept Barry’s secret to himself, promising the boy that he wouldn’t tell Rea about it, though things seemed to unfortunately tumble at his feet. He only agreed to sleep over after Rea pleaded for cuddles, which neither he wanted to leave. So much for being cuddled now. There was no way Rea would even fathom laying beside him ever again knowing that he had genuine bed-wetting issues outside of their usual antics. Who knows...maybe this was the dealbreaker? He was already a disaster in every other quality a partner could possess, and had a history of putting Rea through unnecessary stress with his crap. Ontop of all of that, to fail at simple cuddles because of his failure to grow out of a habit intensified by his upbringing? Barry stifled a chuckle, pinching his nose in frustration. Once again, Naomi was ruining everything. Even with being half-across the world. He couldn’t catch a break from her bullshit parenting creeping back into his attempt to have a life. “Barry?” Miserably, he met Rea’s eye and gave a pained smile. “Yeah?” Rea frowned, taking his hand. “You know I’m not mad or anything, right?” “Uh-huh.” Barry rolled his eyes, snatching his hand away to face the wall. He knew it was going to happen. There was no point in thinking otherwise. Rea would call it quits. “Barry, I’m serious.” “You’re almost never serious, Rea.” Rea did a dramatic gasp. “Excuse me? When have I never meant what I said?” Barry opened his mouth but the forces of Arceus descended from the heavens to stop him from being an asshole. Instead, he merely muttered, “I don’t know.” Rea searched his face helplessly. “What makes you think I’m not being serious?” “Because people don’t just accept stuff like this without question! Like, how is this not weird to you? I...I peed the bed, and you have like...no reaction to it.” Barry croaked, feeling his throat bubble. “You’re like this with almost every weird cringey thing I have wrong with me, like it’s not something weird.” “Uh. Well I dunno... maybe it’s because I love you so that includes these ‘weird things’ about you too.” Rea looked up at the ceiling, tapping their chin with their finger. “And your health issues shouldn’t and will never be anything bad or weird. Nothing about you that’s ‘weird’ is bad. Maybe other than the fact you sleep with your socks on.” They pretended to do a disgusted shiver. “That’s terrible.” Barry scoffed. “Says the one who sleeps with only their feet sticking from underneath the blankets.” “That’s different! I need some sort of breeze.” Rea whined. “You practically let your feet bake overnight in those things!” Barry snorted before bursting into laughter. “That is the worst way to put it.” “But there’s no other way to put it! You know I’m right.” “Maybe a little...just partially right.” Barry smirked, leaning against Rea. They rolled her eyes with a pout in response. “Smelly ass.” Rea muttered. Barry nudged them playfully in the side, making them squeal and flail back. Giggling, the two of them tussled and bickered for a couple minutes. As usual, Barry won, leaving Rea a giggling mess after using their ticklishness against them. “One day, I’ll get you.” Rea hissed, wiping their eye clear of a tear. “I look forward to it.” Barry cooed, twisting one of their curls. He then sat back and yawned. “Maybe we should...like not sit in the bathroom anymore. Allen is gonna think we’re being nasty.” Rea looked up at Barry from the floor and snorted. “He always thinks we are.” “Well, he’s really gonna think we are with my balls hanging out like this. I need pants.” Rea went into another fit of laughter, making Barry sigh. “You need to go back to sleep.” He smiled softly, patting Rea’s head. “You do too!” Rea squeaked, playfully slapping his hand away. “We can sleep in the living room until the blankets dry and watch a movie too!” Barry’s face suddenly fell flat as the reddish hue returned. Rea looked up at him in confusion. “Wait, were you gonna leave?” “Uh…” He cleared his throat. It was the plan, to say the least. Rea furrowed their eyebrows at his response, sitting up. “Barry, I already told you it’s no big deal about what happened. I don’t want you to go roaming town or sleeping in a hotel because you're embarrassed over peeing the bed.” “But…” “I promise I don’t think it’s weird. I used to have the same issues too for a while.” Rea scratched their head, their face flushing slightly. “Remember when I kept having to go home to take care of my mom? My night terrors and bedwetting came back during all of that. But when I got back here and got to hang out with you, all of it went away again and I've been doing okay.” Barry blinked, feeling himself relax. “So you were able to get that under control?” Rea nodded. “Yeah. It was just a stress thing for me at least. I don’t know if it's the same for you, though. It took me a while to understand mine.” “I don't know if mine is from stress.” Barry sniffed. “ The thing is, I just...really never grew out of this. I mean, I wasn’t really ever taught how to grow out of it.” He didn't want to talk about it...he really didn't, but it was sitting in his throat. Waves of memories with his mother flooded his heart. He could feel his voice begin to tremble. “Like, you know how my mom is. You shouldn’t be shocked she never did anything about it when I was a kid...like sure, she’d yell at me or spank me awake when she saw I peed myself but that would be it. There was never any...sitting down and figuring out why it was happening or working with me to check what was causing it. Not even a doctor's visit. She wouldn’t even acknowledge it was an issue!” He looked away tiredly. “That was apparently too much of a job for her. And everything she didn’t do is screwing me over now that I'm an adult.” Rea nodded quietly. Considering they had personally met Naomi, Barry didn’t have to go into much detail on the negligence he went through with his mother. “Well, that just means that's something we’ll figure out together.” “Another to the list.” Barry sighed. Rea leaned on his shoulder, smiling up at him with sympathetic eyes. “And that’s okay.” “You’re way too patient with me.” Barry's eyes watered at Rea’s touch. “That's because I love you a lot. And we’re both very patient with each other which is very important. I want you to be haaappyyyy.” Rea pulled him in for a hug, letting their head rest on Barry’s shoulder. He huffed, hugging back tightly. “I love you too. Thank you, Re.” “Mmhm!” They squeaked before giving him a quick peck on the lips. “Okay, we should really get out of here now.” Barry nodded in agreement and the two of them stood up to leave the bathroom. The house was quiet other than the rumbling of the washing machine and gentle hum of the TV from the living room. The two of them tiptoed down the hallway before eventually running into Allen, who was coming in their direction. “About time you bastards leave! I’d been waiting to use the bathroom this entire time!” He hissed, shoving past the two as he rushed to the door. “Why didn’t you just knock at the door?” Rea called out as they went to plop down on the couch. Barry stretched his arms out and grabbed the TV remote. “Because I didn't want to interrupt whatever weird shit you two were doing!” Allen yelled back miserably. Snickering, the two got fresh blankets and prepared their couch nest for the night, turning on their favorite movie to keep them company. Barry felt a lot better about what happened given Rea’s company, being able to fall back to sleep peacefully without another accident.
